On August 19, the Forum hosted an exclusive tour and discussion of the recently re-designed Lincoln Center and Alice Tully Hall led by Elizabeth Diller and Daniel Brodsky.
Elizabeth Diller began the tour in the lobby of Alice Tully Hall, a sculptural concert hall and university building for the Juilliard School that was recently completed by her firm, Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The tour continued through the grounds of Lincoln Center, where Diller’s team had renovated the monumental plaza and built the Hypar Restaurant, an eatery elegantly blanketed by a green roof and gathering space. Members enjoyed a casual lunch and discussion in the Hauser Patron Salon of Alice Tully Hall, where Reynold Levy, president of Lincoln Center, discussed the project’s origins and development. Diller concluded her tour inside the Starr Theatre, the warmly-lit concert hall, where she explained how acoustics informed each aspect of the design.
